This article argues in favor of granting monopolistic rights to the patent-holder as against the contention of few developed countries which feel that patent rights (especially in the pharmaceutical sector) have to be donated/forfeited to poor countries in national and human interest to alleviate the suffering of humanity. The article contends that unless protection is given to inventors and their inventions, they will not have the incentive and the resources to come up with new inventions/innovations. Must read article.
